James Bond Island Overview

Ko Tapu (Thai: เกาะตะปู), literally meaning "nail island", also sometimes known as Khao Tapu, เขาตะปู, meaning
"nail hill") is located in the Phang Nga Bay -- within the Ao Phang Nga National Park. A location immortalized in the 1974 James Bond movie, "The Man With The Golden Gun". Due to this famous connection the island is regularly referred to as "James Bond Island".

Ao Phang Nga Bay, is one of the most prominent and most frequently visited marine national parks within the whole of Thailand. Encompassing a total area of 40,000 sq km. The 40 islands - both large and small in size- lay north-east of Phuket. The area was established as a national park, in 1982. This was in effect to conserve and protect one of the most important mangrove areas in Thailand.
